Species: Adiantum pedatum.
My favorite fern ! Native fern found in our back woods in little colonies. I transplanted a few to the front yard where they do much better. One small clump turned into 75+ fronds in a few years, which I then divided and placed around the woodland gardens. They're circular or shorseshoe-like flat fronds borne on slender erect stalks. Each stalk divides into two recurving parts that bear leaflets on outer rim, the larger leaflets being in the middle. Completely dies back in winter with all new growth in spring.
