Larkspur, Spring

Genus: Delphinium.

Species: Delphinium tricorne.

A perennial native, this spring wildflower is also called Dwarf Larkspur because of its small size compared with the other larkspurs. Many larkspurs contain a toxic chemical that is poisonous to grazing animals so the plants have been removed from many places in Ohio, but they can still be found throughout the state each spring.
It likes moist woodlands with deep soil.
