Greek Valerian

Genus: Polemonium.

Species: Polemonium reptans.

Greek Valerian is very closely related to Jacob's Ladder. It is a native perinnial of Ohio and is often found in woods along stream banks. Medicinally, Greek Valerian was reported to cure TB of the lungs, and infusion of the root in wine was used to treat coughs, colds and a variety of complaints of the lungs. It's very showy all year long even if it's finished blooming.
