Japanese Quince 'Lemon and Lime'
Genus: Chaenomeles.
Species: Chaenomeles japonica.
A spreading thorny shrub with mid-green glossy leaves. Clusters of large, cup-shaped, yellow and green flowers in spring, followed by green edible fruits ripening to yellow.
This one is near the gas meter box at the front door. It will be lovely if trained against the bay window wall, but it's a slow grower and can be left pretty much to its own devices. Prune it after flowering if you like. I usually leave the fruits on as a feature for the winter.
