Tomatoes

2013
‘Maskotka’ - Compact bush variety, ideal for pots and hanging baskets.
Sow Feb-April, harvest June-Sept.
Heavy crops of deliciously sweet cherry fruit.
Good resistance to blight and splitting.
Needs no staking or pinching out.
Sow in pots or trays of moist seed compost. Cover with plastic film to maintain humidity. Place on a warm windowsill at 15-20 degrees C and remove the film after germination. Pot on into individual 8cm pots when plants are 10cm tall and grow on until it is warm enough for them to go outside. Acclimatise to outdoor conditions before planting into large containers, hanging baskets or grow bags. Can also be grown in the ground, planted 40cm apart. Feed weekly with a high-potash feed once the first truss of flowers appears. Approx 90 days from sowing to harvest.
Tip: Pick tomatoes throughout the summer to encourage further fruiting, and nip out any leaves shading immature fruit.
Seeds T&M free with GW 2012.
1st sowing 6 Feb 2013. First flowers 8 May.

Transplant to individual pots when plants are large enough to handle and reduce temp to approx 15 degrees C. Harden off late April and plant out to large pots, grow bags or the greenhouse border when plants are approx 15cm tall. Support plants and pinch out side shoots as they appear.
