Muscadet's Garden

Lilium Nepalense

Genus: Lilium.

Species: Lilium Nepalense.

Originally purchased one bulb many years ago from Burncoose and now have about 60 ! All at various stages of maturity. Sadly lost my best stock bulbs of this lily when I was just to ill to do any gardening one year after an illness and surgery. Sadly the pot was moved and overwatered/exposed. However, I do have 3 bulbs which survived from that year(they were developing in the greenhouse in a reserve pot together with all the other bulbils from the mature bulbs ! The larger bulbs are the ones which should flower this year.....they are hardy if left in a particular spot in my garden in a 'huge' planter with a mixture of John Innes for acid loving plants. The 'spot' is a microclimate created by house walls north and west and a south wall . The pot is in dappled shade near the branches of a large pittosporum Garnetii . The soil is always 'cool' and this area never seems to frost. I really enjoy seeing my lilies thrive, there are so many interesting and unusual ones ! Success is such a rewarding experience , failure is misery ! I really enjoy sharing my garden with the visitors !
