Southern Marsh-orchid
Genus: Dactylorhiza.
Species: Dactylorhiza praetermissa.
I grow this in 4 litre shrub pots but 90 litre tubs would be more suitable. Like all Dacts it must have a deep root run. 450mm vertical roots have been measured in the wild. The uncommon variant known as Leopard Orchid has small purple rings on the upper surface of the leaves and is now thought to be a hybrid between praetermissa and fuchsii.
