Genus: Buddleja.
Species: Buddleja davidii.
The variety I have is Purple Knight, it is a lovely bright flower. It is by my Conservatory window so that we can see the butterflies. It is next to my neighbours' conservatory window too, so that she can get the benefit of the butterflies too. For this reason I have to cut it back fairly quickly after flowering as the arching branches reach over and knock on her window.
It gets a full pruning in February. In 07 my husband did the pruning, and I thought he'd killed it, but no, it bounced back this year, it has not grown as tall, but will do next year.
