Red Bird of Paradise

Genus: Caesalpinia.

Species: Caesalpinia pulcherrima.

This is a tropical, deciduous shrub planted near the east wall in the front yard April 2007. Grows fast to 10 ft tall and wide (hmm, may have to move it further away from the wall). Blooms throughout warm weather; flowers orange or red, clustered, with long red stamens. May be evergreen in mild winters. Freezes to the ground in colder areas but rebounds quickly in the spring.
