Going straight!

I did a blog a while ago in which I showed myself incapable of sawing a straight line.

Had to cut some wood yesterday to put some shelves up: the only place I could put the wood was over the worktop and cooker and saw between. To my immense surprise, I got it spot on!

Hung a bag over the wood in the hope that it’d be a sawdust-catcher, worked a bit.

Maybe I’ll have to do all my sawing there in future …

And another first, got the shelves dead level – even if I messed up the actual placement (I wanted them an inch or so lower, as can be seen by the lines on the wall! but I didn’t realise that the screw-hols on the brackets didn’t start at the top of the bracket). But managed to get the bubble dead-centre, which for me is s major triumph.

lol thanks: I did it twice, so it wasn't a fluke! well, I went a tiny bit off the second time, but then I was trying to get it right, rather than just going for it.

Good job, Fran. I can hear my father, teaching me to use a saw, 'Keep going, keep going! Don't stop!'. I think he was right - it's when you stop that it gets messed up, because the rhythm goes. I think that's what you were meaning, too, by 'just going for it.'

thank you all! not really brilliant, but maybe I'll get there if I keep trying. got lots of ideas, just not sure how to set about 'em. There are only a few walls I can drill, rest are really solid, so I want to use what I can get at.
