Hello everyone. Have enjoyed looking at all your photos and blogs over the last few days. I am not so advanced that I can upload photos and at this moment in time there is nothing in my garden to take pictures of as we have been in the house for a year and only just thinking of designing the garden. Myself and my partner Mike have spent the summer painting the garden fence and removing some grey slate and 9 conifer stumps which we have in one corner for the wildlife and Minnie the cat. Mike had a fabulous idea to use a 20 foot discarded tree trunk in the field behind us as an obstacle course for Minnie and of course any wildlife that may take up residence there. I am currently getting some ideas from all the pics for garden paths. We are currently in the design stage which is nice but not half as exciting as doing the work, but also not half as tiring! Look forward to hearing from you. x

welcome to GoY

it doesnt matter if you dont put pictures on here but if you take some for yourself its very interesting to look back on the progress [have a look at annella's blogs]
im sure you will soon get the hang of it and be finding all sorts of pictures to put on
another thing that can be useful is to take a photo from upstairs ~ it helps to plan!!

Welcome to Goy Dolly, we have a bit of a picture by the way you have written in your blog, I agree with Sticki ,its good to see before and after, I often look back in my albums to when we arrived here, have to laugh sometimes as well to see what blunders I made along the way.
Mainly enjoying it is always top of my list, if you are doing that it never seems as hard, lol...

I don't know, I rather like the design stage - thinking about it all the time, researching this and that for ideas, I spend weeks of my life doing things like that, love it, but often get neck pain from poring over my books so much, lol! But you can't beat actually carrying out the plan... backache or no backache.

Welcome to Goy from me too, Dolly! Have you looked at the Goypedia section of the site? It's very inspirational for everything from plants to paths or even wellies! It's at the bottom of the page, just click on the letter you're looking for, like P for plants or paths, or W for wellies! Lol! :0) Have fun!

I have taken a few pics but have mainly concentrated on decorating the house as we had to keep Minnie the cat inside for a majority of the summer due to a poorly leg. It felt like betrayal going outside and enjoying the weather with her little nose marks on the french doors telling a sorry story! We have spent our time just planting a few shrubs - ceanothus, forsythia, buddleia and a red campion that had seeded itself in the forsythia pot. Have planted a few forget me nots and foxgloves and look forward to the day when I can get a greenhouse to enjoy the garden winter and summer. Had a smoke bush that I've now planted. As my old garden was so small I have never really planted any larger shrubs so is a little scary. So many lovely ideas from the site, and your comments. Thank you. I have been poring over the 'p' for 'paths' as I am in the design stage with what paths to incorporate in the garden, preferring a cottage style to a more minimalist look. Love the cottage garden bricks and am wondering how easy it would be to lay a path this way? Part of my Saturday afternoon is to be spent planting a honeysuckle and pyracantha - makes me feel happy knowing that I'm helping out the wildlife and get so much enjoyment from it too. I shall hopefully learn how to download pics and you can follow my progress! Hope you all have a lovely day. Miranda x

Welcome, Miranda. I've not been here that long either and still not uploaded photos but there are lots of friendly people here and plenty of advice too. Be warned, this site can take over your life. sorry to hear that your little cat has been confined to barracks. Hope she can get outside soon and enjoy some autumn fun in the garden.
