This & That

I have just had a builder’s bag of 22mm gravel delivered. Now the garden is beginning to take shape at long last.
Last week I had a nasty shock, I went to bed, having had a good day walking in the rain (It’s something I do). The pond was full to the brim. I was debating ordering some gravel & looking for some perennials so I could get ‘stuck in’. Bright & early the following morning, I got up & found I was several gallons of water missing. Had I damaged the stream? There was a possibility I might have left some gravel under the stepping stone which had punctured the liner. I was not looking forward to lifting it as it is VERY HEAVY, (Would my back take the punishment?). I grasped the nettle so to speak & got on with it, no point in delaying the inevitable. Fortunately I was safe, no leak. Having relaid the liner I topped up the pond & left the pump switched off for 24hrs. No leak in the pond either. As My Good lady was going to Derby for the day, I decided to stay at home with the pump running & keep an eye on the water level. Two hours later, I found the leak in the header pond . Removing some stone I found that the liner had folded in on itself, & water was being poured out, like a jug to a teacup. Some stone had slipped/settled creating my problem. The gap has been filled in, now hopefully, that is all past .
I mentioned that I was looking for some perennials, I have stumbled on a website http://www.perennials.com/index.html (My set up will not allow the link (???) ) It looks to be a useful site for somebody like me who knows very little regarding names/genus, season of flowering where to plant etc. etc.
Well, I have wall to wall blue sky as I write, the forecast is rain, rain & more rain over the next few days, so I had better get off my bum & start planting some more gravel, a bucket at a time from the front of the house to the back. Oh! No wheelbarrow either, not that I could push it up the steps anyway.
Have a good weekend.
