Plastic greenhouses & wind.

Plastic greenhouses are ok but you do need to hanker them down really well, the other week i put a photo of mine, you know Blackpool is well known for being windy, it as the name of breezie Blackpool, and it as given strong winds again for all week.

if you look it as a plastic fence panel & a trough that i’m going to put some climbers in to hide the way i’ve tight the greenhouse up to the fence panel, also it as tent hooks holding it down at the bottom, we had really strong winds last week and the little greenhouse never moved an inch. Also if you look at the other side of it, i have a wheelie bin i bought of the council as an extra bin, put a hole in top and have down pipe coming of my shed back of greenhouse, to catch water, & it cost a lot less than buying a water butt, plus it holds a lot of water,
Then when i did my new pond, which some of you have seen, where i put railway sleepers across form my little pond to the new one, well most people who have been to my house think they are one pond now

old pond

new pond

then overweekend the little wildlife pond i did last year

i have made it into Alpine Garden.

Very nice Clarice and i know what you mean about the little greenhouses, i have mine laden down with bricks it means i lose a shelf though or nearly as some plants are too tall to be on the bricks! its tucked into a corner so not too bad i haven't lost anything.....Yet!
I like your little alpine garden.

Well done Clarice you have been busy - yes it can get pretty windy here too anywhere near the coast can but to be close to the sea its worth it ..

Your alpine garden reminds me should get round to planting up the old sinks we have but still quite a bit to do in the garden.

Hmmmmm, I reckon I know what you mean about the mini greenhouses too, Clarice, lol. Ha, ha.

I really like what you've done but how do you put the zip down with the strap round it?

Your pond is lovely and a great idea with the wheelie too. :o)

Clever idea Clarice to make the pond into an alpine garden. I like the other ponds too. And your green houses look like they have lots of healthy seedlings.

Llew, to zip the front up, i just drop the front part inside the strape then you can zip it up proper.

Hywel i'm using the little plastic one for a cold frame. Not sure if i've done the alpines right or not, never grown them before.

Tha alpines look fine I think Clarice. They should crawl over the gravel in time. It will look nice.

Oh, of course. Why didn't I think of that? Doh!!!! lol.

During all the strong winds this week, I bet everything stayed in place in your garden, Clarice ! You have very clever ideas for your greenhouses, ponds and rainwater collection. Well done :o)

The feather board sections I made on my blog "Can We Fix It?" have stayed firm as a rock through these high winds, so that's a relief... :o)

Couldn't agree more. Got home from work tonight and the leaves are already falling from the mighty Oak next door. Hoping to get out there on Tuesday afternoon to do some tidying.

We'll get there Clarice, I'm sure. Nice to have the support and friendly banter from everyone on here as well. :0)
