I love these pictures, Oh to have produce like that, the items in the 2nd picture intrigue me, are they giant beetroot? thats all I can think of.

Yes they were giant beetroot. It was the Giant Veg competition. I think they look awful personally, but its amazing that they can grow them like that. It is special seed they have.

Thanks Hywel. I took those pictures for you of the cacti and succulents. The second picture is a giant beetroot.
What about the third picture from bottom, that is made up of chilli's and pieces of wood cut crossways. Clever I thought.

Thanks for the cactus photos. I wonder why people think of me when they see them lol :D
I was wondering what that design in the photo was made from. Yes, it's very clever ...

Aw, thanks, Cinders! I used to love going to the local flower shows. They don't have them here and I didn't realise that I kind of miss them!

I was going to ask about picture two, as well...
...omg, how long would you have to boil them??? Do you think that they would ever be edible??? :)

How on earth does one grow carrots like that??? the flowers are lovely, almost too perfect to be real, my favourites has to be the succulents and heucheras, lovely pics Cinders, thankyou for sharing....

What a lovely day out. Aren't we lucky to have digital cameras - it would have cost a fortune in film...
The exhibits just take your breath away, its all just perfection.

I'm glad you enjoyed it Karen, but I don't know about boiling the beetroot !! It would take forever.

Lincs I spoke to the chap that grew those carrots, and he grows them in a long thin tube that comes apart to get them out. What a performance.

Thanks Sandra, glad you enjoyed looking at the all.

Thanks Stera, what a difference those cameras make. I don't think I would bother to take photos at those shows, as you say, it would cost a fortune.

Thanks for showing, I just marvel at the displays.
You have set me off now, I think I might see if I can get to Malvern at the end of the month.

15 Sep, 2012

That would be nice Val, you are probably a bit nearer than me, and anyway I shall probably still be away, as going to cornwall on 24th. Shame, as that will be a good show to go to.

Ooooooooh! Look at all those Heucheras! Lovely!

16 Sep, 2012

I know, Nariz. Lovely arrangement of Heuchera in a courtyard, and did you notice the small arrangement on a stand. Novel way to show them off.

great pics, thanks for sharing.

lol those veggies may be huge, but what do they taste like??

16 Sep, 2012

I don't know Fran but I don't fancy them somehow. I prefer my veg small and young, more tasty. But those large ones would last a long time wouldnt they. In my house anyway, with only me to wade through it.

there's the old saying that the best things come in small packages. I'd think that I'd get bored halfway through one of those carrots!

Those carrots look so perfect lovely blog:)

Fascinating set of pics. Well photographed :o)

Plenty to get you interested Cinders, I loved all the heucheras with their contrasting shading and the flower arangement with the musical notes. I wouldn`t mind a few lessons from the person you built the walls in the last picture ~ no wonder I call my attempts rustic.lol.
Thoroughly enjoyed sharing your day out, thank you.

Many thanks Terra.

Stroller that last pic is interesting isnt it. The Heuchera arrangement was very good, as was the one with the garden seats I thought.

I haven't been to Shepton in years now Cinders, as we usually now go to Malvern instead, but I missed out on all garden shows this year..Lovely to visit Shepton through your wonderful photos instead..\0/x

Its not such a large show as it used to be Flori, but still enough for me to walk round !!

9 Nov, 2012

We used to go every year, but as gate prices increased Cinders, we saw less and less garden trade stands attending..Malvern is huge I must admit, but I was quite fond of Sheptons garden show..\0/x
