oh wow cinderella those dahlias are utterly fantastic ~ i never know why they dont sell more of them as cut flowers ~ they are so perfect.

Its probably because they don't last long in water do they.

Yes Libet, when I took the pictures I said 'these are for Hywel' to my friend !! The dahlias as you say, are perfectly formed aren't they. Isnt nature wonderful.

They are absolutely gorgeous Cinders, the people put a lot of work into preparing them for all these shows, I`m afraid I wouldn`t have the patience to do all the tweaking and suchlike but do appreciate how perfect they look.
I always think of Hywel when I see pics of all the cacti, the do not touch sign amused me as well, I try and steer clear of mine when dusting as they do have a habit of fighting back, lol. Thankyou for sharing..

Thanks for your comments Lincslass, there is a lot of preparation in getting the dahlias ready for show, but some of those pompom ones are so perfect aren't they

Wow .... I've never been overly fond of dahlias, for some totally unknown reason, but I had a lovely one growing in my previous home & have decided to have some in my new garden. There are certainly some beautiful varieties around. Some of the arrangements are wonderful too. We have an annual flower show in the small rural town I live in, & a bigger Rose show in the next little town down the highway .. I will definitely try to get to them both ... if only so that I can have some pics to put up! lol

Thats a good idea, you will enjoy them I am sure. Dahlias make a lovely colourful show.
