Paintings a bit embarassing

I’ve seen lots of lovely art work on this site so it’s a bit embarassing to do this, but here goes. The first is a painting by my sister-in-law (grrrrrr I hate her) it’s a water colour too. Next are two (pastels) no-one sees ‘cos they’re upstairs. The nod to Gaugin one is in a frame I made out of polystyrene and watered down polyfiller, painted and just stuck on bits of wood to give me the look I wanted at the time. The nod to Ingres is called Red Hat No Drawers. The most recent one (about two years or so ago, birthday present from my children) is an Amy Winehouse gig we went to. she was brilliant, but very late on stage, crowd was restless, but she was worth the wait. Great night.

I like the red hat one. My daughter loves to paint too, but instead of doing an art degree shes off to do a nursing degree this year. I dont know wether to be glad she'll at least have a career at the end of her studies, or sad that she's giving up her obsession. Hopefully she'll keep up the art in her spare time though. Dont be embarrassed, your paintings are great :o)

A few years ago my husband and I went to Barcelona and in one of th wonderful Gaudi buildings, actually a bank, there was a Kandinsky exhibition. I fell in love with Kandinsky especially his improvisations, so the impressionists went down the shute. Love his colours. Just can't quite get the hang of it though. They never quite turn out as I want them. Maybe get lessons one day. The red hat one is more or definitely less;-) a sort of copy of a famous painting by a great painter, Ingres. Thanks all for being so kind:-))

They're fantastic BB. My Son is a Kandinsky fan and I must admit to not knowing him until I saw the painting on is wall, I can understand why you fell for him.
