NEW GEUMS (mouthwatering)

New geums from East Of Eden. As you can see they arrived in good shape and very quickly. I bought East Of Eden, Shannara, Toffee Apples and another one which I’ve forgotten momentarily lol and if I don’t publish now, I won’t have time today so I will say who’s who tomorrow hopefully. If you would like to see more of these beauties, put Reddirtrog in GOY search box and on Roger’s profile, I think there is a link to his East of Eden website. Also there is a blog with some of his beauties too:o) I will put better pics on when I can:o)

Very pretty Ba, off to check out the website..

Love them too Ba and you've chosen some real beauties there. Like Sticki, not enough sun in my garden and oddly too much some days! Shall enjoy yours though....:))

Thanks all:-)) Sticki, why do you think they need sun? :-)
Pam, do you think I'm becoming an addict? eek!
Phyl I pop out and look at them even if it's raining. they cheer me up:-)

30 May, 2013

Lol I daren't look again Lincs:-)
Janey they don't really need much sun at all, they grow in shade too:-)

30 May, 2013

Thanks Sandra, I'll have to stop buying them:-)
They are lovely Paul and they quickly become a nice size and shape:-)
You too Motinot? don't get addicted like me lol:-))

i had a geum at my last house ~ in full sun, it did well, i think there was one here that was really straggly ~ so i assumed it was because there was not enough sun?

30 May, 2013

I love these, beautiful flowers. I could become a geum addict if I had more space, I think my garden is just about full now!

30 May, 2013

Thanks BA for putting my Geums in the spotlight, wish I had more time to give a rundown on some of them, but I'm just so busy preparing for shows, been setting up at Holker Hall these past two days, which starts tomorrow.
I will say my Geums are just as happy in some shade as they are in sun.

30 May, 2013

They are all so beautiful, I have a couple of the older varieties, they grow well in the sun and shade in my garden;0)

I guess new Geums are a good way of getting a fix for your addiction,Ba..could be a lot worse things to crave for.:o)..they are really beautiful..and I think you are now convincing a lot more of us in liking them too..a bit like some of us with Heuchera's !The more you see of them, the more you want some..is this a form of brain washing?

30 May, 2013

You got it Bloomer:-) I've bought so many lovelies after seeing them on GOY hearing others enthusiasm, and yes, heucheras are a good example. I think geums and heucheras could make good companion plants. I've planted a reddish heuchera by G.Bell Bank.... gorgeous and I think H. Peach Flambe or marmalade would look fabulous with the peachy/apricotty geums. In fact ....I want to re-arrange my garden.... now look what you've done lol:-)

Sticki, I'm no expert, but I think the rivale types just as happy in part shade, not underneath stuff, and they need some moisture (loved it last year) I have some in full sun in my little bog garden which is always moist, but not really boggy. Others I have in some shade. Geum Totally Tangerine is in full sun, not rivale type which most of mine are:-))

Always room for a little'un Louise:-))

Hi Roger, you're welcome, lovely plants. I'll be at Gardeners World Live on the Saturday, so will be putting pics of your exhibit on here along with others which catch my eye. If you ever have the time, it would make a good blog if you were to put on those which had a long flowering season as well as beauty. Us GOYers like plants which earn their keep :-)))

31 May, 2013

Hi Carole, yes, I find them very adaptable too:-))

31 May, 2013

i have very dry soil ~ will that matter?

31 May, 2013

Not if you water it lol ...and maybe put a little humus in, is that the right word? stuff that helps to retain water or chickpea dip?:-))

31 May, 2013

i have lots of humus from all the oak trees!......chick pea dip ~ is that to eat with crisps and crudite??

31 May, 2013

I had to smile at your chickpea dip comment, Ba - are you getting your humus mixed up with your Hummus - what a revolting thought!

I notice Roger has named a Geum 'Stevie Nicks' ... Fleetwood Mac fan then? Always rated them myself ... :o)

31 May, 2013

Most definitely a Fleetwood fan Shirley Tulip, but I love Stevie's solo stuff even more, and lets not forget my Geum Maddy Prior.

31 May, 2013

Oh yes, another great voice. And a lovely Geum too!

1 Jun, 2013

Ha ha, you're hooked Shirley:-))

2 Jun, 2013

They are SO beautiful and your love for them is definitely spreading. I look for geums whenever I am at a garden centre and I love his website - found it thanks to you!

2 Jun, 2013

Do you think I should be on commission Chris?:-))

2 Jun, 2013

Ba - I found a yellow flowered plant in my garden today - no recollection of planting it so I asked GoY for an I.D. - it's a Geum!!! It's 'Lady Stratheden' avens variety sent to me by a Goy member in September 2011 and didn't bother to show itself last year! I totally forgot I had this lovely Geum ... just added a pic of it ... :o)

4 Jun, 2013

Lol Shirley, they're everywhere! I keep forgetting what I've got and where. I'm sure I've weeded out some emerging beauty and I'm keeping my eye on some leaves that I can't for the life of me identify or remember planting. I also think I have a large clump (very healthy) of rosebay willow herb. I'll leave it a bit longer in case lol;-))

5 Jun, 2013

I'm sure it will be worth the wait .........
