NEW RHODODENDRONS

Yesterday, Wednesday, was sunnyish and I managed to get quite a lot of tidying done and have almost filled the massive brown ‘garden bin’ which I hope the Council will be emptying them soon as I have lots more stuff to get rid of.
This time of year I get desperate to buy new plants. Not having a car can be very frustrating, so I spend ages looking at things on line. When I see lovely things my pulse starts racing and my fingers start itching to click on ‘buy’ regardless of the space I have to fill , not to mention the money lol. It takes all my will power not to go mad, I think gamblers must feel the same when tempted to gamble. Sunny again today and I went to Walsall to my favourite market stall and bought three lovely hellebores which will be delivered tomorrow. When I arrived home there was a big box in the porch (as per instructions) from Millais Nurseries, they had delivered Rhododendron Golden Torch, Rhododendron Bow Bells and Azalea Northern Lights which I ordered on Monday the 25th. I was very pleased with the service, size and quality. These were all rewards for not going mad and buying loads of plants:o)))
Here are some pics, I’ll put the hellebores on tomorrow .
when they come.

This is a very nice specimen of Azalea Northern Lights which, if the photos I’ve seen are right, is a very lovely white with a golden flare. I stuck it in an old plastic pot with some tulips which may not flower. Think I need new pots lol:o)

These next two pics are R. golden Torch, another I haven’t seen in the flesh, but looks lovely in pics I’ve seen.

These two pics are of R. Bow Bells, I like the leaves on this one. I have been trying, without success, to buy a decent sized R. Orbiculare which has the dinkiest of round leaves:o( This is the next best I hope:o)

It does feel like spring doesn’t it? Yipee \0/

Hi John, just try stopping me putting them on in their full glory:-) These two varieties don't get big either. I love lavateras and all the mallow family. I used to have lots of musk mallows, but unfortunatel they all got rust after I bought in a mallow from a yellow book garden:-( I look forward to seeing your lovely marigolds too:-)

The quality of these plants looks excellent - what wonderful condition they are in. You will really enjoy having them I am sure.

I garden the shoehorn way as well Ba and the past few years have introduced more shrubs and perennials to my garden, with our ridiculous weather in the last few years I'm afraid the summer annuals have been dismal to say the least, so had to have something to replace the colour, I am still growing them though we might do better this year, lol.
Your new plants look to be in smashing condition and will be lovely soon when all those buds open, if you need new pots thats another excuse for shopping again.....

Hi Lincs, it's always daunting using a new online company, but they had good reviews and I'm delighted with their service. After last year it's hard to know what to grow isn't it:-(

A PLANT SHOEHORN, Bornagain, I think you could market that! It would be very in demand and I'm sure it would fly off the shelves!
