Holmfirth Part One, Including Naughty Bedroom Pic.

A few weeks ago my husband and I spent a few days in Holmfirth with his daughters, partner and granddaughters. The weather was fine, the air soft and the area beautiful.
This is the lovely house where we stayed.

This is the view from our bedroom window.

This is a naughty bedroom picture: Dogs were not allowed on the bed…Rosie was not happy, but rules are rules:-)

This beautiful house was on the opposite side to ours. It’s almost on the road as the land rises steeply behind it.

These lovely houses are a little further along from the above, and you can see the gradient of their shared drive.

This is on the same same side as ours. The land drops so steeply behind it that this bench, almost on the road, is their only sitting area…but what views they must have:-)

Almost at Cooper lane, the road down to Holmfirth on the right

Here are the lovely corner houses which are at the start of the steep hill down to Holmfirth centre.

This house stands just before the road becomes very steep. I did think of asking the owner if they would like to swap, but my nerve failed me.

Almost at the bottom now.

Holmfirth, turn right for centre. In their ad, the owners said Holmfirth centre was a 5 minute or so walk. If we were wearing skates it would be 10 seconds:-)

Firstly, I love the blog title, Ba! I wish I had that view from my bedroom window, lovely little blossom covered tree. At least Rosie didn't lay all over those lovely cushions on the bed! The houses look lovely, I like the light coloured brickwork. Glad you enjoyed staying there. : o )

That looks a grand place to stay, the garden is lovely and one can admire a view like that for hours. In defence of Rosie I bet the rules weren`t in doggy language........

Thank you for the tour BA, the houses are so quaint, in fact the whole place is really pretty! Don't think I could sit on that bench with the huge drop behind it, though, made me a trifle queasy to even look at the pic! The house you were staying in was gorgeous! Great you had a good time!

What a steep place. You'd need plenty of energy to live there lol. But it looks very picturesque and the views must be wonderful
Rules are made to be broken lol - I don't believe in too many anyway. They make life very difficult. You have to be constantly watching out that nobody breaks them ... - too much hastle for me lol
And I don't think I would feel comfortable or welcome in a place where I'd be always worrying incase I broke the rules. You must have been glad to get home :)

Hi louise, dogs were not allowed on the furniture either, I did try telling them:-)

Sticki, the Thong Circular bus regularly used this road...it was amazing, they had the squeakiest brakes imaginable:-)

Thanks Sandra, it was lovely and the house was too. :-)

Lincslass, you've hit the nail on the head...neither Rosie nor Meg could read the rules lol:-)

Bloomer, I do envy you, but I don't know how long my joints would last with all that climbing. A lady who lived on the road said they didn't get snowed in, which you would have thought impossible at such height:-)

Thanks Libet, Yorkshire has some lovely scenery:-)

Hi Hywel, we spent ages before leaving wiping furniture to remove telltale dog hairs lol. On the first night, Rosie escaped from the 'dog proof' garden, slipped through the fencing. We had come outside to look at the stars, not such light pollution as where we live... the sky looked beautiful. When we came back in, we must have left Rosie outside:-( When I noticed her absence..I was outside shouting "Rosie come", locals must have cursed me. Eventually she came back looking shamefaced, but quite proud. Meg was better behaved:-)
