On Sunday,we went to one of our popular Garden centres, where they were having a display of Birds of Prey..from a local rescue centre, a creepy crawlie corner, plus the building of an Insect Hotel..It was aimed as much for children as adults, and gave them a wonderful experience of nature…Hope you enjoy it as much as we did..I have never seen as many families there, and all the little ones loved it…
Firstly,a beautful Owl called Poppy..who just loved being stroked,so the owner told us..and she got quite a bit of that :O)

This little one had lost his mum,so he has his teddy bear substitute..and they are very pleased with his progress,so one day he will be released back into the wild.

Look into my eyes ! We loved this one…

Ok,so he’s cute,but I’m the best looking one here

What about me then ? ..surely I’m worth more than a
£1…I’m going to sulk now…

It’s time to get close up and personal, and Thomas was having his doubts..

Nothing to worry about,so Grandad said :o)

erm,Iv’e already had the ‘old bird’joke….yawn :o)

On to the Insect Hotel now..this will be stood outside for the winter..all the children got a Balloon..as a bribe to delve into buckets of various materials..Thomas adding his bit..

He went for a piece of foam tubing, used for lagging piping ..his gift was a ladybird wind up torch..well pleased with that.:o)

Creepy Crawly corner next, which was interesting..sorry no pics,as there were too many children around..all so interested in giant snails and a millipede on the palm of the lady looking after them..we declined the offer to touch it gently, but Thomas was straight in there..as usual..
Time to all wash our hands, before heading into the cafe..
all that touching and stroking !..Hope you enjoyed the visit with us..xx
