Well,Casablanca really..just in case you were wondering what kind of places I visit :o) This was one of our ports of call,on our recent holiday..we went on an organised morning tour with a guide,as it isn’t recommended to go alone..so with a little trepidation ,off we went.No need to worry at all,as we felt very safe with our lovely Muslim lady guide,…and another Muslim gentleman bringing up the rear!…to keep the stragglers all together..which wasn’t us,I hasten to add..:o)..I know how animals must feel ,heading to market..which leads us nicely into the first place we went to..

These three were waiting to greet us…:o))

Swordfish…and Salmon (ella) by the look of the hygiene standards !

Lovely Strelitzia’s

back on the coach, and on to the Palace of Justice..now an administration building, but a former home of the King, and all his Concubines.A beautiful building, and lovely Architecture and decorative tiling..

This door knocker,is called The Hand of Fatima, and is regarded as a good luck symbol. Our lady guide had one on her necklace..but a much smaller version ! :o)She was one of the most informative guides we have ever had,and a great sense of humour..told us lots of jokes too..I would have liked to have taken a pic of her,but sensed it might not have been appropriate..we were previously forewarned that taking pics of people isn’t always welcome..so we respected that..

Inside, and these ladies were busy cleaning all the brasses, and having a ‘girly natter’ …Bum’s up! :o)

This was the lovely glass roof, and decorative tiling..

There were lots of these green doors all around the ground floor, where each concubine awaited to be summoned by the King…cold calling at it’s worst,I would imagine !

We continued our journey, around the city, and there are still so many more things to see..too many on one blog..hope you would like to see some more of Casablanca…

Thank you,G.I loved that door too..and the veg was good looking..but probably would have needed a good wash first, but we do that anyway, don't we? There were lots more just all over the floors...all those pussy cats around !

Lovely blog. Reminded me of the years I spent living in Jordan. The old architecture is so beautiful & I always used to smile to see lovely roses & other plants growing in large rusting olive oil cans. Looking forward to seeing more pics of your tour.

I enjoyed my visit to the Casbah Sandra, the mosaics and buildings are lovely, liked the scene with the ladies doing their daily tasks, it really is bottoms up lol The ceiling is just dreamy, imagine lying down gazing up at that, you would think you were in heaven! looking forward to the next episode;0))

Thank you,Cazcat, and .no wonder the cats hang out there..Sticki,..hope they got lucky .....It looked very good Shirley..and all the smells of different spices were wonderful..We didn't buy any,as their currency,,is a closed one,and you are not allowed to take it out of the country..but some of the main shop accepted Euro's..The Palace of Justice really was a lovely building..:o)
thanks Amy,we could have stayed all day,as so much more to see,but we saw the main places of interest..
Thank you,San..I love seeing other cultures too..it seemed it was mainly women doing the chores !..they were so pleasant and friendly..:o)..
Thanks Karen..you would love it there..we weren't sure what to expect,as you hear so many negatives about these places..but like anywhere, you have to judge for yourself..:o)
You know just what I mean then,Dwyllis..and they make use of everything, don't they? ..so much poverty, which makes you appreciate just how lucky we are...
Glad you enjoyed it Carole.some of the mosaics were so intricate..I almost got the chance of lying down to see that ceiling..uneven floor..which we were warned about..but dozy me,didn't see the empty water feature, whilst looking up !..our guide just managed to shout a warning before I stepped in it ! Lol....
thank you,Sam..sadly,it does have a lot of ugly places when you reach the city itself..but you just accept it as it is,and enjoy the beautiful things that are there..:o)
Thank you,Joan..no,I wouldn't have fancied it either..pleased you enjoyed it:o)
Thanks Dd..very different from other places we have been to..but a nice experience..:o)

LOl.Nariz,no we didn't ,but managed to get a pic from the coach window as we passed..only a side view though, and a bit of a let down,to be honest..It wasn't possible to get a shot of the frontage ..which looked more authentic..:o)
I have planned to include it in part two..so you will see a view of it then..

woman can work on reception area as long as their huband or brother works there, but not aloud in bedrooms, i guess incase they are in a room and a man enters, cant be alone with a man.
but i have to say the egyptians are lovely people, male and female, so chatty and love the british. like you say its all down to culture or religion, there is muslam and cristian there, about equal in numbers and no trouble,
