Hi all, A very short post about this garden blog (Sedgefield garden blog) i happened across. This step idea looks great, we were wondering if its possible on our rear steps, or would it make them too slippery? Comments please

I think that's a lovely idea. I would like to make a mosaic garden seat.

A bit too much (in your face) for me and I think they would detract from the planting - but then again whatever rocks your boat.

It looks fun. If you use sandstone pebbles on the top then that will give more grip, esp in the rain. I think river pebbles will be too slippery, even in sunny Devon. I have a hill leading down to a grassy area for my son to play in (and steal my Strawberries) that I am planning in putting steps in - mosaic steps could be a good idea - think I would be tempted to buy lots of cheap colourful plates etc and smash them to make a mosaic rather than tiles.

They look very nice but I wonder how long they'd last in a frosty winter.

Hi all, Thanks for the comments,
Hywel- I'm not sure although don't African nights get very cold?
Annella,If you decide to do one, post up some pictures please.
Stroller, Really not sure although our steps are into a yard.

Kildermorie, Sounds like an idea, you could probable get the same effect from broken Tiles, from the recycle centre.
