Flowering Trees of New York City

Spring is blooming in New York City and now is the time to appreciate the magnolias, apple blossoms and dogwoods in all their glory as they transform a bleak winter landscape into a dreamy and glorious Spring show.

Take a walk with me through one of my favorite places – Riverside Park and the Upper West Side. A warm sunny spring day – the sweet purple scent of Lilac and fresh green grass lures us outside to view mother nature at her finest…..

Magnolia Stellata

This crabapple tree was like being enveloped by a giant cloud-it is breathtaking!

Crab apple

Annie Rosso Yoshino Cherry Tree

Wow! what an amazing spring show. I felt like I was IN the show. Let’s see what’s down this way….

There’s a Robin – I think he’s found something to eat!

Yoshino Cherry Trees

Bradford Pear

I can see the Hudson River…

Nice Tulips – unusual!

I felt like I was in a big ball of cotton – dreamy!

Rhododendron

This is a memorial to our fallen war heros

Let’s walk up W84th Street towards Broadway…

Callery Pears Very common all over Manhattan

Do you see a familiar name?

Magnolia Soulangeana line Broadway

…and the colorful flowers add a nice note of interest too.

A bucket of colorful daisies is never a bad thing…

Thanks for going on this walk with me. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Have a great day.

Thanks Scotkat: I'm glad you enjoyed it. The Robins give such a beautiful song early in the morning.

Scottish: That is for sure. It's great to be outside for once without having to wear 3 shirts and two sweaters. Seeing the colorful blooms is good for the body and soul, LOL! Thank you..

Thanks Hywel. I love Riverside Park. It's a tiny piece of the city untouched by urban development.

your photos are beyond words. I thought mine were good, but yours are perfect. I love the way you have woven the big city around the trees. I cannot believe the real ones were as amazing as your pics. for the life of me(what's left), i do not have the patience for the three by three method of making the blog. Any suggestions? Thanks so much for showing these.

Only just seen this for some reason. Its lovely to see a city cheered up by so much beauty - and now in November it won't be all that long before it all happens again!

Well...its a year on and I expect you will be taking your spring walk again, unless of course your seasons come at different times to ours ! It must make you feel good to be alive when being so close to all this beauty !
I don't expect I will ever get to New York , so thank you for sharing !
