A first attempt

Yes ,this will be my first attempt at writing a blog from my smartphone! Let’s see if it is as smart as they make them out to be !

I want to try and put a photo or two in it.

I’m unable to upload photos on my phone to my blog as when I choose a photo it informs there isn’t enough memory to complete the action!

You must wonder then how I managed to get the pictures into the blog – quite simple really, I just chose a photo previously uploaded for the time being.

I can see that I will have to take lower resolution photos if I want to post them from my smartphone!

I’d be happy if someone could tell me how to reduce the size of photos already on my phone. Future photos I can reduce in size/resolution but that leaves many I can’t use many of them only exist on my phone.

Bye the way, my phone is an Android not an Apple ?.

Thanks for that info but there is no way to reduce the size of the photos once taken nor can I upload them even if I take one directly with the camera. I always get the message: insufficient memory to complete the action! :-(

Nice job, good for you that you can actually grow these. Here is a tip on photos: Instead of lower resolution, reduce the image size. It still lowers the memory requirement, but keeps your photos sharp and crisp.

Don't you have a laptop or PC you could put them on? There are several programs there that you can use.

Thanks, Bathgate, on this little laptop I don't have a programme that will reduce the file size but on my old computer I did have a programme, from Microsoft, that used to do a very good job of size reduction & I used it for years but that, sadly, is no longer available to me! :-(( Even if it were it can't resize photos before they are saved on my phone, which is what I would like to do.

I could probably find a programme for use on my laptop but is there an app for an Android phone that will reduce file size?

@Steragram: Yes, I do & I'm using it to write this right now!

My problem is not so much adding photos to GoY, I can do that through this computer, but putting photos in a blog written on my phone!

I know, I know, if I have a computer to do it on, why then do it the difficult way by using a phone??? What can I say? Perhaps it's the challenge of being able to, not only WRITE a blog on the phone, but to INCLUDE photos in it! If others can do it, why can't I?

It probably wouldn't be a very regular thing - it's too much hard work! I much prefer to do it on the computer! It's also another option should this laptop decide to go "west" as well! :-D))

It sometimes seems the more technology we get the more problems we have! I haven't got a smartphone, just an old one that makes phone calls full stop. And I don't even use that. My mobile bill comes to about 30p a month if that. i can't think what I would use one for...

I have just bought an unused Meccano set. It can be used to make 14 different Highway Authority Vehicles !

In the winter I can enjoy doing something I can see and follow Technology I can understand, without getting into a panic.

Recommend.

Well done on your first blog.... my photo's are always ok in size... never had any trouble yet.... if you havnt enough memory you may need to delete some things on your phone to make some space... I used to have that trouble until I got my sansung galaxy phone....

Balcony: The only program I would ever recommend is iPhone adobe photoshop/Adobe PhotoShop. It is 2nd to none. Visit the Adobe PhotoShop website. I believe they offer a 30 day free trial.

It's the only program I need. It does everything you need to do and everything you want to do plus everything you never thought possible to do. Online tutorials are available. I've been using it for over 20 years on the job and at home. Creating blogs and uploads will become an enjoyable experience for you.

Thanks, Bathgate, :-)) I've downloaded the programme to my laptop & mobile & I'll try using it over the next month of free trail I have. :-))
