GOOD NEWS!!!

ahem..sorry for shouting at you….but I am so pleased/chuffed/excited….after waiting 13 whole months….I have today had word that I am TOP OF THE LIST for an allotment….One should become available at the end of the year…but apparently it is in a bit of “a state”…If its the one I’m thinking of….someone took it on at the beginning of the year and has done “absolutely nothing”….can’t understand it. I’m very lucky really…some areas in the county have waiting lists of 30 years!!!!!!!!!!….yes 30 years……..crazy in’it….The site in question is a 5 minute walk from where I live, which is good as I don’t drive and am limited in which sites I could use…..I will let you know when it comes through….:))

Congratulations of getting your allotment, you will find once your on there, others will be will to help you, they are so freindly especially if they think a woman doing it. Many people take on allotments like you said and do nothing, its because its harder than what they think, and if working they don't have the time to keep on top of it. Good Luck hope all goes well with your growing. Look forward to seeing piccies

thats brilliant news
well done indeed. I really feel they should make areas like this more available. We have a fairly large patch near our house which could have 2 or 3 people on there. Such a waste

will keep my eyes peeled and my ears covered for your "got one" blog

Great new's Louise,i bet you can't wait to get started. I would have thought this was the best time of year to get an allotment so you can dig it over and tidy it before spring. Have fun planning your plot ...Don't forget a spot for Brian to sit and watch he he sorry Brian :o))

12 Oct, 2009

Yahoo AA...good for you...get those wellies ready!! :o)

12 Oct, 2009

They normally give it to you about end of October or in November so you can get ready for the spring. Some do it when the person before rent runs out, if its not clear they should give you a year rent free, if you are oap or on the dole they charge half price here.

12 Oct, 2009

Hi AA, perhaps when we come up to my mums in the spring I can come over and give you a hand with the digging ........ I did say PERHAPS. Lol :~))

12 Oct, 2009

13 Oct, 2009

Congratulations on getting your allotment - hurrah! Maybe it's nice to get one that's not been too cultivated, that way you can make it all your very own without feeling bad about making changes.

How exciting! Very good news!!! I don't know know why Councils don't make more space available for allotments as they are so good for community in many ways!

15 Oct, 2009

To true Sarah, I do know that if six or more people sign a petition then they have to (by law) give them some space! ! !
Not sure if this info is going to help anyone though. Lol

15 Oct, 2009

Thanks Sid...I'm trying not to get too excited until I'm told which and when!!! I believe that if there is a demand, councils are honour (hm) bound to provide them!!! (and tell that to the marines!!!...lol)

15 Oct, 2009

Snap Ian....we posted at the same time.....great minds and all that....lol

15 Oct, 2009

Lol Lou, I have just taken my name OFF the list at our local site and I was at the top as well. :~((

What I think would be hard is keeping it all watered in a hot summer....my little plot in my garden is hard enough to supply with water.........

16 Oct, 2009

Ah.....thats a shame Ian. At least someone else can be top of the list now;...lol... Its daft taking one on if you can't manage it pet.....and a big man to admit it!!
Take care
x

16 Oct, 2009
