Double Celebrations

My twin daughters had their birthday on the 12 June but as they both work the celebration was on Saturday. It started off with us all meeting for breakfast – Bucks Fizz, strawberries, yoghurt, and croissants. Yummy!

In the afternoon we went to Eastwell Manor, a lovely old country house hotel.

Although it was a warm day the log fires were still burning in the lovely old fireplaces.

I was treated to a champagne tea…..

…tiny little yummy sandwiches, a selection of cakes and scones with clotted cream and jam. Delicious.

Afterwards, to try and compensate for all the calories, we strolled around the gardens….

I was fascinated by all the different shaped chimney pots….

..as well as the garden itself.

Lovely roses but unfortunately not scented.

This smoke bush made me determined that I was going to have one in my garden!

A lovely day and I was very naughty and even brought a few souveniers home…

Don’t tell anyone, will you?

What a lovely place for such a celebration. Beautiful photos and the smoke bush has had the same effect on me. I have been considering it as one of the 'purple/dark red' options for my garden and I think you have now decided me. Thanks for that, I'm such a ditherer especially where plants are concerned, I want them all!

What a lovely day you had that looks absolutely devine, but I actually remember visiting an old house just like that about 15yrs ago when the kids were small, and my Grandson even smaller, I seem to remember the many different oddly shaped chimneypots and beautiful gardens so could it be the very same place? We were on holiday at a place called Foxhunter park which was very close to Kent airport, and had a lovely caravan holiday for a fortnight.

Sounds like a lovely day, everyone seems to have had a great time. Lovely roses pic too.

Hi Bob, Foxhunter Park is near Ramsgate I believe and Eastwell Manor is in Boughton Lees near Ashford. It's probably less than an hours drive away so it could be the same place. Certainly has very impressive chimney pots.

Thats correct yes Foxhunter was near Ramsgate and (I think) Margate, so probably yes it is highly likely that it is the same place, oh but for a decent memory retention :o)) but I do remember that we did a heck of a lot of mileage that year, and we did go further than Ashford, my wife says it looks the same place as she remembers the chimney pots too.

I'm glad you and your daughters had such a lovely day Gee. You'll have to wait another year to repeat it though.

Lovely setting Gee a day to remember think you deserve a few freebies amazing what falls into your pocket as you brush past these plants .. should really trim them back and not allow them to snag visitors like that .
