Aching but happy!

It has been a beautiful day. I had several jobs that needed doing in the garden but first I took Chloe for a walk to the woods. I wanted to see the bluebells and didn’t know if Chloe would make it that far but, bless her, she did. It took us about 50 minutes (it’s only round the corner and up the road but Chloe takes her time!) but…..

…it was well worth it, the bluebells looked beautiful and the smell was equally good.

On the way back, I saw a clump of white ‘blue bells’ but when I spotted the ladybird I forgot to take a photo of the flowers!

Thinking that it was better to ‘let sleeping ducks lie’ we crept passed the pond!

But we did say hello to the fish.

A little later, while Chloe slept, my lovely son-in-law took me to the local garden centre to buy some potting compost. I also still had some garden vouchers (from Christmas and Mothers Day) so looked at the clematis there.

I couldn’t decide between Montana Rubens and Clematis Early Sensation, an evergreen, so I bought both! Early Sensation is already planted in the back garden but I will have to wait to plant the Montana until I get some wires fixed. Lovely son-in-law has agreed to help again.

I then secured the little fence and trellis that hides the dustbin. This had been broken when my neighbours fence was flapping about. Now it’s fixed and the ivy is much more under control and I don’t have to hold the trellis up with my elbow while I put rubbish in the bin!

The rest of the morning was spent digging out a dead shrub in the front garden (that made me puff!) It was a flowering current that started to send out little leaf buds before the last lot of cold weather and then just died. I thought that I might find some signs of life as I cut it back but it was beyond hope. I found a buddlea had seeded itself in one of my pots so I have transplanted that into the empty space. I like free plants!

Lots of others plants are doing well. The bugle is lovely just now…

And there are signs of blossom on my favourite pyracantha.

The two little lavendar cuttings I took last year are now doing well

This spider was not impressed when I lifted the pot up that he was living under.

The terrible trio had their first full day in the garden and enjoyed the dandelions that I picked on the way back from the woods.

A very happy and satisfying day!
