Orchids - give them a try

I’d always had the impression that orchids needed more attention than I was able to give but, after buying one last summer and managing to make it flower again this year, I now have the confidence to try a few other types.
The east facing window at the top of our staircase is proving to be an ideal place to keep them as it never gets too warm, never gets too cold and has great light but no direct sunlight.

This is a photo taken yesterday of our first Orchid which has now reflowered

In the last few months we have bought a few more as well as having been given two as gifts

This one is our first slipper orchid

The flowers on this orange one make a great display, there must be 40 or 50 flowers on this one stem and the flowers form the shape of a tree, there is also another stem on this orchid that is just about to bloom

This unusal yellow spider orchid was an ex-display from the Chelsea flower show so I presume it is quite a new hybrid

Lovely, lovely Orchids! I have never grown them myself but have always wanted to.

You have a wonderful collection of lovely Orchids now! I hope you can keep them growing & flowering in successive years. You did well to get your first one to flower again! Congratulations!

hello, could that stunning orange multi-bloomed orchid ( 4th photo down) be an odontidea? I have a similar type of a darker colour but would love to add this orange to my modest collection. Not to worry if you dont know the hybrid name as there are hundreds, I could'nt tell you what hybrid name my odont is as it was a garden centre purchase. Many thanks.

hello again, just had a look at my orchid ( the darker version of your orange ) & it's an 'Oncidium' not Odontidea as I first thought. I'm no orchid expert & all these names are a minefield as a beginner. Just had a stroll through your photo's, superb.
