Our local Bank is very prosperous and the staff are very nice but on leaving today i noticed an odd thing about the picturesque tree planted outside on the footpath. On closer observation it became evan more obviouse that it was non other than a Pear tree. Now to some this may seem ok , but to the poor blighter who stop,s one of the fruits with his head i doubt if that opinion would stick. Is that thoughtful planting? Take care enjoy Tony

A money tree would have been more thoughtful.

Maybe its the non-fruiting variety? A friend of mine planted his whole driveway along either side with flowering pear trees a few weeks ago. I had never heard of them, so looked them up & its going to look very pretty indeed, as he has a long rural driveway winding upwards from the road to his house on the hill.

Yes, i expect it was Dwyllis.
In public places they are chosen for their blossom instead.

I have two Prunus here and they were chosen because they are non-fruiting varieties.
