a year of garden visits

I thought it would be nice to record our visits to the gardens we will be going to throughout the year. We’re so looking forward to seeing them change throughout this year’s seasons, having the time to be able to do our local ones on a regular basis this year. Unfortunately we are not in the position to travel far afield much these days but blessed we have lovely gardens within our reach so must not moan.

I’m going to start the blog from Christmas 2014 to Christmas this year as the nearby Trelissick House newly opened to the public dressed up for Christmas and was a lovely sight.

The house and garden was illuminated and the lights kept changing colours, very well done.

January 2015

A lot of our local gardens close for the winter, think they are classed as too dangerous in high winds and slippery conditions.
Trelissick is a lovely place even in winter, with woodland walk down to the ferry and the creek. Regularly catch up with friends for lunch and a walk followed by a good browse in their large second hand book shop.

February

Some of the gardens are now opened again and most will open in March.
This month so far we have visited Glendurgan, Trebah, Godolphin and Trengwainton. Always something to see and camellias, snowdrops, hellebores and crocus a lovely splash of colour.

Thanks for comments, camellias are such a beautiful sight and liven up gloomy grey days, lucky so many varieties to see in these gardens.

Sandra the boat photo was taken on a misty evening year before last when Trelissick had a burning of a wicker man who was built just off the beach, they sailed out and lit him and the mist added to the atmosphere of the occasion perfectly.

Lovely photos ... some of my favourite gardens are in Cornwall ... visited some when my sister-in-law lived near Truro a few years ago.
