Position: full sun Soil: well-drained soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: August to October Hardiness: half hardy (will need winter protection) From amongst a clump of slender, linear leaves, upright stems emerge in late summer, crowned with up to 9 coral-red flowers, each with a creamy-white interior and a cluster of protruding stamens. They make unusual and very beautiful additions to the border. Garden care: Plant the corms 5 - 7cm deep and 10 - 15cm apart in a sunny spot with freely draining soil after the worst frosts have passed. Alternatively pot them up using John Innes No 2 compost. While actively growing, they should be watered moderately, making sure the excess water can drain away freely. Overwinter in a frost-free position and keep dry while dormant.
