Gardeners World

Unusually, Gardeners World is on Thursday this week, in other words this evening. At 9.00pm we’ll see Frances Tophill’s very first garden, and there will apparently be an item on a perennial meadow. It sounds as though it might be a bit more interesting than it has been of late (sorry Monty!).

I was looking for a photo to illustrate this short blog, and found this image taken by Steve from an upstairs window in May 2018. I shows our garden a few months after we had moved in, and eight weeks after the landscapers had finished building it.

Hope you’re all enjoying the warm weather :)

Thanks so much Janey. x

Thanks Paul. Maybe tonight’s episode will be better than usual, but I do agree with you up to a point.

I really enjoyed it this week, it was far more relatable, and good to see so many younger people taking part who don't have rolling acres. It brought up 'green issues' without pontificating..

Sheila, I have just watched GW, recorded last night, and for the first time in many months did not fast forward a minute of it. For me, every part of it was interesting, especially the Arts & Crafts house and garden which Advolly spoke so lovingly about.

Yes! Thanks Ange and Shirley… good to know we all enjoyed the programme much more than usual 🙂. I think Frances Tophill is a natural presenter, so relaxed and not taking anything too seriously.

Sheila, when I saw those Bamboo roots under the pond liner I felt for her. Years ago I planted a Bamboo and was assured by the nursery chap that it was not a spreading type. Hah, how wrong he was! The roots spread far and wide and it was a dreadful chore removing them all ... needless to say I shall never plant a Bamboo again!

Oh dear Shirley - very annoying to be so misinformed. I do love my one Bamboo plant (fastigia) but it’s in a large pot. Phew! Yes, Frances did have a huge job, but somehow managed to chuckle about it …

She made me smile when she said two consecutive days off work would be needed for her to remove the roots ... poor girl.

You won’t be disappointed Julia.

I loved her energy and enthusiasm and admired the way she tackled such difficult tasks!! It was a really good programme.

Thanks Chris, agreed! I’m sure we’ll see more of her if the producers have any sense …

Thank you for reminding us to watch. I too enjoyed the programme.

She is so engaging and natural, a really lovely young woman. Do like her dog too..:)

Thanks Josee, that’s good.

You’re right Janey, she seems a very relaxed presenter 🙂.

I'd forgotten all about GW on TV! We no longer watch TV but if we want to see a programme we just look it up on the computer & watch it thee. I have GW on the BBC iPlayer but watch a couple of episodes & then forget all about it! It's the same with David Attenborough's programmes - I watch an episode or two then forget about them for a few months!

I'm very much a "hands-on" person & can't sit still long enough - usually - to watch anything! On the computer I'm always writing/reading on gardening forums or Flickr.

As I've now seen this post I shall go to watch Francis on GW on the BBC iPlayer. 👍
