Retail Therapy!

Could not stand it any longer, the snow, the frost, the devastation! I had to go out in search of some compost to keep my mind off the fact that I couldn’t actually do much in the garden at present, could I help it if there happened to be a plant or two that I liked while I was there!
Whilst picking up a bag of compost I also managed to pick up a couple of bargains- two little baskets filled with pansies, ivy and conifers for 50p, one zinc bucket with a Michaelmas daisy in for £1 a small terracotta pot with pansies in for 50p and a packet of Nectaroscordum siculum bulgaricum bulbs for 20p. The plants in the baskets were a little weather beaten but with a little dead heading, each basket brightened up a treat! Now when I look out the window I can at least see a little colour as virtually everything else is refusing to raise its head yet, just one or two violas have survived the snow and are brave enough to keep going and the odd primula .
P.S Also made a little purchase for my cat- keeps her warm, yes I know its a little dogs coat but what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her and the name fits- she’s bad to the bone but lovable!

Don't worry Sticki, we didn't leave her in it for too long - you should have seen the look she gave us, utter contempt! :-D

im only worried that someone will buy me that coat and make me wear it ~ its very funny

Thats my kind of shopping, any other is a chore that has to be endured, How on earth did you manage to keep the coat on Strider long enough to take a photo?.. as to the collars I`ve given up as my cats all lose them within a couple of days.....

Strange how spending money always makes us feel better lol. You had some nice bargains, and it's nice to see things have survived the winter in your garden

ive given up with collars too lincslass ~ probably more dangerous than helpful, she is chipped anyway so i just have to hope she is ok.

My old cat Dunkel had one of those collars with an elasticated inset so she couldn't get strangled if it caught anywhere. She came in one day with her paw caught in it!! More trouble than they're worth and the little bell to warn birds of her approach never seemed to work either:-(

minty went nearly beserk when the collar had a bell on ~ i had to take it off!!
the cattery where she goes if we go on holiday said they didnt like collars on them and you have to take them off even for their little places.
one day she went out with her collar on ~ a tom cat was after her ~ she came back without it ~ i think he took it off!!! ~ very naughty!!!

Maybe thought it was a sort of chastity belt, the fool :-)

Must admit I don`t really like the collars in case of accidents, many years ago one of our cats nearly strangled itself climbing a tree, poor thing was dangling from a branch.....

Strider just will not wear collars, she will struggle and struggle until she ends up getting her paw caught up in the collar next to her neck. We gave up- worried that she would do it again while we were out or end up strangling herself by getting caught on a tree or fence. As for not liking her photo taken- she was so disgusted at having to wear the coat she just wouldn't even look at us Joanella! The coat only stayed on for 5 minutes before she started to do a strange dance trying to step out of it lincslass!
