I have recently bought a palm"Phoenix Roebelinni" please can someone advise what is the best type of soil to plant this in and does it need protection from frost?

The area of the garden I want to place the fern is part shade part sun. The soil at present does not drain easily and remains quite moist most of the time.

it likes a firm moist but well drained soil. try and incorporate some drainage into the garden.
