It's a bit early to be redoing your baskets Redwine, but I would think the cheapest plants would be pansies or violas. Later there'll be cyclamen, trailing ivies and spring bulbs, including mini daffs and tulips.

Thanks Janey I'll take your advice but will mini bulbs in baskets survive frosts?

So far mine have especially daffs like Tete a Tete.
