It seems that my climbing rose is growing but most of the rose puds have gone either brown or moldy. What should it do to encourage growth?

A photo would help? It may well be too much rain?

Only solution I can think of is turn off the rain for a bit.

i agree with Steragram, Rain spoils buds and open blooms, sounds to me like the buds are balling.

Same here, I have pruned off the offending buds and am hoping it will re-flower when we finally get some sunshine.

Can I jump in here please...
this is my first year growing roses and I too have quite a few brown buds.
Do you snip the buds of right at the bottom bit of the stem where it comes from the thicker stem.
Sorry I don't know the correct terms :))

I go down the stem about 3-4" and find an outward facing bud and cut just above, that way you get more blooms Scottish.
