I am going to plant my pink butterfly Gaura in a planter on my deck.

When it is through blooming and I prune it back heavily as suggested, should I move it to the garage for protection from the cold winter nights we can get up here in Tacoma Washington.

I have never had it survive below -5 centigrade so you will need to protect it. I would leave the top growth in place to give it added winter protection.
