I have a flowering cherry tree which looks as if it is dying,the leaves that are left have holes through them.the bottom half of the branches are dead. can any one Help. I have sprayed with a fungal spray, would you cut the branches back?

I took some of the leaves to my local garden centre and was advised to spray with Fungicide.they said it was fungal shot. I will post photo asap

Any chance of a picture of the tree plus a close up picture of the leaves?
Can you tell me why you used a fungicide rather than a pesticide?
Usually holes are caused by a pest rather than a fungus!
