How to kill scuch in a flowerbed boarder?

shropshire, United Kingdom Gb

Tulips, roses and panseys, amongst other flowers and bulbs are owverrun with grass and scuch

best way if it is in the flower bed like that is just work lightly in between and carefully pull the couch grass out as it has long runners of roots, try not to break them off. If you loosen the earth you should be able to carefully pull the runners up. Hopefully you will lessen them that way and have less next time to clear!!! Hopefully!

Hi LillyLupin, sorry, I've never heard of Scuch! But if you use a weedkiller, you'll also kill off all the little insects that we rely on for pollination etc.

If the bed is over-run with couch grass, then the only way to get rid of it completely, sadly, is to take all the plants and bulbs out, pot them up, and dig the bed over, taking every scrap of couch grass out. Then you can re-plant.

I speak from bitter experience. It does make life easier once you've bittten the bullet.

Oh thanks Sh! I was worried for a minute there, thought there was some new weed heading our way, phew! Lol!

Good luck with trying to eradicate it LillyLupin!
