Is there anything I can do to cure my Leylandii?

I have heard that a virus is affecting Laylandii, I trimmed one of my hedges late last year and there now seems to be a lot of brown bits in it, although most of it is green with new healthy growth. My second hedge appears to be completely twiggy on one side, but sprouting new growth on the other. If they have the virus, is there anything I can do? or is it terminal? Will it spread to my third hedge?

Over pruning a leylandii can cause it to die. If you cut off the top green shoots it will not regrow from the brown woody stems.
