This is from a seasonally wet dune slack, which was formerly a Roman fish pond. Other vegetation is typical maquis and Oak forest. This one species we cannot agree on identification can someone please help.

It looks like a young ash sapling to me . did it have black buds and greyish bark? if yes it is ash if not, not certain.
