Why is my newly planted climbing jasmine losing its leaves?

My jasmine was planted in Nov/Dec and it is not only losing its leaves but they are turning very slightly yellowy -my soil is alkaline

it sounds as if its not getting enough water. did you untease the roots when you took it out of the pot. was the planting hole bigger than the pot? did you add a mulch to it?
all these things will help it establish but watreing is perhaps the most important.
