What is this plant?

We have recently moved into a house with a rathe wild garden. After cutting the grass we discovered what we thought was a dock leaf plant at first. We have watched it develop and grow black spots on it's leaves and now it has started to grow what look like arum lillies with a dark brown stamen. Help please.

Can you put a photo on?

Without a photo this is a pure guess but, to me, it sounds like Arum maculatum.

I've put a photo of the leaf up. Click my name to see it.

Yes, it is arum maculatum (common name Lords and Ladies), a British native for damp shade. It is also poisonous

you get fantastic red berries in the autumn but as Andrewr says they are poisonous.
