They are Kniphofia. Look under K at bottom of page and there may be some help there? (When you find it, scroll right down to the questions on this plant).

I think they are pretty easy going and shouldn't need special treatment

They are very strong & hardy and so easy to grow.

They are so easygoing and thrive on neglect, huge dog paws and lots of ill treatment in my dogrun and still give me a good few flowers..

I bought an unusual lemon coloured one last year and it has recieved very little attention other than tidying up the old dead leaves. The birds seem to love it when the flowers go to seed!
