I agree too bamboo. often as a result of insect damage in the growing region of the plant. Growth regulation during cell division goes a bit off kilter. Be interesting to see if the primordial flower cells have been damaged.

An amazing thing. Won't do any harm to the rest of the plant. Just enjoy its weirdness!
