why do my camellia flowers keep turning yellow?

my camellia when it flowers starts off with lovely pink flowers which all then turn yellow. any ideas?

I agree with Andrea. The problem with Camellias, is that if they have frost on the flowers or the flower buds, and then the sun comes up and shines directly on them and melts them quickly, then that damages the tissue. It's the quick thawing that does the damage. The way to get round it is either a). cover the plant with fleece the night before when frost is forecast or b). move your plant to where it will not receive any sunshine until late in the day.

Hi Gill62. I have the same problem with quite a large camellia which I planted without knowing anything about them and it gets sun first thing in the morning. Same thing happens every year - nice deep pink flowers and then a frost and they all go brown. Fortunately some come out later and manage to escape. I planted another on a west facing wall and its much better. Even covering with a fleece doesn't seem to make any difference.Plant another !
