my mountain ash is about 7 years old . has been doing fine until this year. We live in british columbia canada. This year some leaves are curling up new leaves come and then curl up . Has only one small cluster of berries.

It sounds as though it may be in a very exposed site, as the leaves are curling, or perhaps it's too dry at the roots. I don't know what your weather is like over there, but if it's been doing OK for 7 years, it could be a disease of some sort, like fireblight. You'd probably have to spray it with a fungicide to stop this happening. Have a look on the web for SORBUS, and see what it says. There are several other diseases that sorbus are prone to, like canker, honey fungus or silver leaf. I'm getting this all out of my RHS A-Z of gardening, as I find it so useful---I'm not THAT good at gardening!! Annie (Cumbria, England) Hope it's been helpful.
