At the b ottom of my garden is a natural pond. I had planted a Salix caprea "Pendula" in the hope that this would look pretty and not grow to a great hight.
Unfortunately i pruned it the wrong way and it started growing up instead of down, so I have taken it out altogether.
Would this willow be suitable to grow at the watersedge about 1.50 - 2 m high?
Do you have any better suggestions, as I don't want it to become a large tree.

Salix caprea pendula is a good little tree but can get very wide so give it plenty of space.Also the branches underneath die off so you have to trim them out.

as it goes i hate to rain on your bonfire . i wouldnt put a willow next to your pond if you have fish as the leaves are not good . it doesnt matter if your just letting it go wild .

This willow is probably as good as you will get for what you want. Check out it's shape on Google images, it can look quite formal (which may not suit). Look for one which is well grafted and with a good head and prune sparingly ABOVE the graft. I would only cut out dead wood and leave the rest, it will all grow downwards and look more natural.
