my runner beans making blossom buds, but they are not opening. and the leaves look pale. the garden is new to me this year and has not been cultvated for 3/4 years>I dug a trench as usual and lined it with old newspapre and growmore plus straw and compost. they have been watered daily the soil is very sandy. i live on the south coast near the new forest many thaks Peter

runner beans need a lot of feeding. It is usual to put well rotted manure or compost in the trench. Just how much Growmore did you add? It is meant to be sprinkled on the surface and lightly forked in not used as a growing medium.
