We had this question quite recently and the general opinion was 'Yes it may' in badly maintained walls and even new builds it was thought not to be a good idea.

I don't know if you're being tactful, DRC, or whether you didn't realise, but the question was asked by Platter the first two times it was posted as well, when that discussion took place. Platter, the answer hasn't changed since you last asked...
